1-The foremost thing is to understand the format of the test. It is pivotal to understand the nature of the exam. Knowing your exam format means facilitating yourself with the chance of scoring well.
2-There are number of guide books available in the market. These guide books give a substantial collection of MCQs and other resources required. Check some options and then find the best option among the available guides.
3-Go through the guide books once thoroughly and then revise the content at least twice.
4-Don’t just resort to the helping aids. Read the text book carefully. Go through the exercises with every lesson. As you have already studied the syllabus book, so it would not be very time consuming. It would be considered as a revision.
5-Go through the practicals too. They are essential to check your concepts. They refer to the applicability of the knowledge and this part can be covered in MCQs of the exam.
6-Going through sample and past papers is excellent drill. Once done with rest of the things, use the past papers to check your proficiency
7-Improve your language skills especially those related to vocabulary by learning a handsome number of words on daily basis.
8-There are number of academies running in almost every town, but not all of them are giving satisfactory results. Some academies are just en-cashing your needs. They take more than what they give. It is not necessary that all of them would help you improve your performance.
9-After the announcement of UHS Lahore MCAT entry test syllabus for prepare it first and revise at least once. Till then you may consult last year’s UHS MCAT entry test syllabus.
10-We suggest you to utilize the free resources on Internet or join the test session. Last but least appear in the entry test with full confidence and winning state of mind.

Approved Rules &Regulations for Foreign & Dual Nationals for admission 2016 in MBBS/BDS at UHS Lahore

APPROVED RULES & REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSIONS AGAINST 76
RESERVED SEATS FOR THE CHILDREN OF OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS/DUAL
NATIONALITY HOLDERS OF PAKISTANI ORIGIN

(1) The Government of the Punjab, vide Notification No: S.O.(ME)9-
4/2015, dated 10th August, 2015, has converted 76 Foreign Self-Finance Seats (72
MBBS and 04 BDS) already earmarked in public sector medical and dental colleges
of the Punjab, into Open Merit Seats for the Children of Overseas Pakistanis/Dual
Nationality Holders of Pakistani Origin with effect from the Session 2015-16.

(2) The selection against these 76 reserved seats shall now be made by
the Admission Board for Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the Punjab through
University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore
.
(3) The distribution of these seats shall be as follows:

(4) The fee structure for these 76 reserved seats shall be the same as that
for Open Merit Seats for local students. The detail is available in the Prospectus of
the current session.

(5) Eligibility Criteria for Children of Overseas Pakistanis:
(a) “Overseas Pakistani” is defined as any person holding a
Pakistani Passport/ NIC/ NICOP/ POC or any other official
document providing his/her Nationality and is stationed abroad.
b) The candidate and/or his/her parents (real father and/or mother)
have valid Residence Permit/Iqama of a foreign country duly
verified by the Embassy of Pakistan concerned.
(c) The candidate and/or his/her parents (real father and/or mother)
have valid Domicile of any district of Punjab.
(d) The Parents (real father and/or mother) have valid Overseas
Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) membership.
(e) Parents (real father and/or mother) should have not less than 05
years of continuous stay back from the date of submission of
application, in a foreign country as verified by concerned
Embassy of Pakistan. If they have resided in more than one
foreign country during last five years, they shall provide the
certificates from all relevant Embassies of Pakistan.
(f) The candidate has passed HSSC (Pre-Medical)/ equivalent
examination with minimum of 60 per cent marks either from
abroad or Pakistan. The subjects in HSSC/equivalent
examination must include Biology and Chemistry.
(g) The candidate has either appeared in the Entrance Test of the
Punjab for the current session or has appeared in SAT II
examination scoring a minimum of 550/800 marks each in
Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics or has cleared
MCAT® of United States with an aggregate score of 24 and
above. The scores of Entrance Test of Punjab are valid for one
year, that is, for current session only whereas the validity of SAT
II and MCAT® scores is two years. (Note: For admission against local Open Merit seats appearance in Entrance Test
of Punjab is mandatory).

(6) Eligibility Criteria for Children of Dual Ntionality Holders of Pakistani
Origin:
(a) “Dual Nationality Holder” means a Pakistani citizen holding
both Pakistani and Foreign citizenship/nationality with proof of
such citizenship/nationality.
b) The candidate and/or his/her parents (real father and/or mother)
have dual nationality.
(c) The candidate and/or his/her parents (real father and/or mother)
have valid Domicile of any district of Punjab.
(d) The candidate has passed HSSC (Pre-Medical)/ equivalent
examination with minimum of 60 per cent marks either from
abroad or Pakistan. The subjects in HSSC/equivalent
examination must include Biology and Chemistry.
(e) The candidate has either appeared in the Entrance Test of the
Punjab for the current session or has appeared in SAT II
examination scoring a minimum of 550/800 marks each in
Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics or has cleared

(7) The candidates shall apply against these seats as per schedule
already notified (1st October-10th October, 2015). The condition of minimum 82 per
cent aggregate score (for submission of application for local Open Merit Seats) shall
not be applicable for this category of seats. The candidate fulfilling minimum
eligibility criteria as given in Sections 5 and 6 shall be eligible to apply for these reserve seats.

(8) The merit of candidates applying for this category of seats shall be
calculated as per the formula of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. It will be
based on the aggregate percentage of the candidate worked out by adding the
marks in the following ratio:
Matriculation (SSC/ Equivalent) – 10%
HSSC/Pre-Medical/Equivalent) – 40%
Entrance Test/SAT II/MCAT ® (weighted) – 50%

(9) The candidates shall apply on a single admission form which will be
available alongwith the Prospectus as per notified schedule. There is no need to
submit separate forms for different categories of seats.
(10) The candidates can apply for admission against more than one
category of seats if he/she fulfils the eligibility requirements. In such case,
he/she will have to tick () the relevant categories on the admission form and
attach the required documents.
(11) Documents Required:
The candidates applying against these reserved seats must attach the
following documents with the Admission Form. Except otherwise mentioned, the
documents must be attested by a Government Officer in BS-17 or above.
(a) Three (03) attested copies of Matriculation (SSC) Certificate or
result card issued by a Board of Intermediate and Secondary
Education in Pakistan. Computer generated result cards will not
be acceptable.
Candidate having foreign qualifications (O-Level, 10th Grade and
equivalent) must provide the attested copies of Equivalence
Certificate issued by IBCC. A valid Interim or Provisional
equivalence certificate issued by IBCC will also be acceptable.
(b) Three (03) attested copies of HSSC Pre-Medical result card
issued by a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in
Pakistan. Candidates having foreign qualifications (e.g. A-Level,
12th Grade and equivalent) must provide the attested copies of
Equivalence Certificate issued by IBCC. Valid Interim or
Provisional certificate by IBCC will also be acceptable.
(c) Three (03) attested copies of Birth Certificate of the candidate.
(d) Three (03) attested copies of Domicile Certificate of the
candidate and/or parents (real father and/or mother). Receipts
or affidavits will not be acceptable at this stage.
(e) Three (03) copies of the National Identity Card for Overseas
Pakistanis (NICOP)/Pakistan Origin Card (POC)/Computerized
National Identity Card (CNIC) of the candidate and/or his/her
parents (real father and/or mother).
(f) Overseas Pakistanis shall submit three (03) attested copies of
Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Membership Card (Not
mandatory for dual nationality holders) of the candidate and/or
his/her parents (real father and/or mother).
(g) Overseas Pakistanis (Not Dual Nationality Holders) shall submit
duly filled certificate given as Annexure IV of the Prospectus,
issued by the concerned Embassy of Pakistan.
(h) Three (03) attested copies of current Pakistani passport of
Overseas Pakistanis OR valid foreign passport of dual
nationality holders of Pakistani origin.
(i) Four (04) recent photographs of the candidate. One to be
pasted on the Admission Form and to be attested on the front,
and other three, attested on the back, to be attached with the
form. Your photograph must be: Colour; Passport size (4.5 cm
high x 3.5 cm wide); A recent and true likeness, showing full
face, with no hat, helmet or sunglasses, although you can wear
everyday glasses; Original- that is not digitally or optically
altered (for example it must not be ‘photoshopped’ or ‘touched-
up’ ); Taken against a light blue background.
(j) Original Fitness Certificate issued by a Registered Medical
Practitioner/Government Medical Officer.
(k) Original Affidavit on Rs.20/- stamp paper as per specimen given
as Annexure-I of the Prospectus.
(l) Three (03) copies each of computer generated result cards of
Entrance Test/SAT II/MCAT ® scores (Not to be attested).

(12) There shall be separate Selection List for this category of seats which
shall be finalized on the basis of inter se merit.

(13) The candidate shall give his/her choice for colleges (both medical
and dental) in order of preference in his/her admission form which once given
shall be final and cannot be changed subsequently. This condition is
mandatory and neither any subsequent change is entertainable nor any
exceptions will be made. An applicant, under no circumstances, shall be
considered for a college, he/she has not named in his/her list of choices.

(14) A candidate being admitted on more than one category of seats shall
only be allowed to retain one seat. The Admission Board shall finalize the admission
of such candidate in the category where he/she is getting admission in a college
placed higher in his/her Order of Preference as given by himself/herself in his/her
admission form. For example, if a candidate is being admitted, according to his/her
Order of Preference, in a college listed at No.10 position by him/her on Open Merit
basis, and at the same in a college listed at No.8 position on Overseas Pakistanis
category, his/her admission will be finalized in the latter category. No application
against the decision of the Admission Board shall be entertained.
(15) All general conditions such as age, fee, examinations, etc., as laid
down for other candidates in the Prospectus for the current session will also be
applicable on candidates applying and admitted against this category of seats.

The Government of the Punjab has reserved 76 seats (72 MBBS and 04 BDS) in Government
Medical and Dental Institutions of the Punjab for Children of Overseas Pakistanis/Dual Nationality
Holders of Pakistani Origin. To ensure that these seats go to the rightful claimants, the Overseas
Pakistani parents (real father and/or mother) of the applicant are required to produce this
certificate from the Embassy of Pakistan in the country in which they are working along with
photocopies of his/her passport and resident visa/residence permit attested by the concerned
Embassy.

The existing medical colleges of the armed forces would come under the umbrella of this university i.e.

will be under NUMS and these will follow one standard course format.

Why NUMS?
One of the reasons to establish NUMS is to increase the intake of the army cadets. 

NUMS Entry Test:
Entry Test for above mentioned colleges will be conducted once a year. The test will be conducted in October - November. Those students who wish to apply on civilian seats or as paying cadets will have to appear in this test.

Pattern of the Test:
  • Biology 20 MCQs
  • Chemistry 20 MCQs
  • Physics 20 MCQs
  • English 20 MCQs
  • Intelligence 20 MCQs
Total MCQs = 100. Time allowed to solve the test will be 2 hours. The Good thing is there will be no negative marking in the test.
The type of the questions will be the same as they used to be in Nust entrance Test. So going through NUST Past Papers can be helpful if you wish to appear in test of NUMS.

About AMC:
The fee and number of seats in AMC might change. There is a chance of increment in both. However it is not confirm yet. We will update the post as soon as we get some official news about this topic.
